Seaweed ethnobotany of eastern Sorsogon, Philippines

Knowledge on the seaweeds of eastern Sorsogon in Philippines is uneven. Not only among areas high seaweed diversity but locals there have interacted with for ages. Despite seaweeds’ assumed importance to Sorsoganon, ethnobotanical records are missing. In this study, we documented traditional knowledge use and determined rate transmission Sorsogon. Vernacular names modes preparation were given 12 identified species bearing culinary medicinal importance. Ten eaten while three used therapeutically. Based indices, Caulerpa chemnitzia ecad turbinata Gelidiella acerosa most important seaweeds. The least cited was racemosa.
